First XI Men's Match Reports – March

Chalfont St Peter 4 Marlow

Chalfont eventually found their scoring touch, running in all four goals in the last twenty minutes of a friendly match which they dominated throughout at High Wycombe Sports Centre.

Giles Payne placed a penalty stroke wide in teh second minute of the second half and Chalfont had to wait another fourteen mintues before the Marlow defence, in which goalkeeper Keith Spencer and captain Tony Croxon were outstanding, eventually gave way.

Phil Stewart forced in the rebound from Payne's penalty corner shot for the first which was shortly followed by three goals in five minutes. Mark McCree, atoning for an earlier dreadful miss, scored the second before twice driving down the right wing to set up Simon Shipley.

AWRE Aldermaston 1 Chalfont St Peter 2

Two goals by Giles Payne secured Chalfont's third successive victory in their penultimate Nastro Azzurro league match on a grass pitch at Aldermaston.

Aldermaston took the lead in teh fifteenth minute when Paul Taylor converted a penalty stroke after Andrew Earnshaw had illegally stopped Stuary Wallace's shot at a penalty corner. Chalfont were soon on level terms through Payne taking advantages of a fortunate bounce before finishing with aplomb.

Although Chalfont dominated the second half with Earnshaw and Mark McCree controlling the midfield and Payne looking increasingle dangerous they had to wait until the eighteenth minute when Simon Shpley's penalty corner shot found Peter Stickland's foot and Payne scored the winner from the penalty spot.
