The Colts
If you have read the lottery application and vast areas of this web site, you will have seen the dramatic steps the club has taken in the last few years towards full revitalisation and positive contribution to the local community and hockey in the area.  The next logical steps are now to embrace the younger hockey players, and build up their skills for the future of the sport.
To ensure that we do not "run before we walk" we have taken a view to encourage youngsters of the ages 11 and over who can join our existing practice sessions on Monday evenings.  This was started with the open day on September 18th 1999, and resulted in a number of colts joining us.  If this level is sustained, which we are actively encouraging, then a number of practice matches will be played against clubs in the local area.
Next year, it is planned to train a number of existing members to the necessary coaching standard, and start younger players learning the sport at the club on Sunday mornings.
This should then bring us well into line with the many planned youth programmes to develop hockey further within the county.
