Rutland August Bank Holiday 1999 |
So, following last year's trip abroad to Dublin at August, the Mixed entourage decided to pitch their tents up in Rutland for the weekend. Arriving on the Friday afternoon / evening, the day was glorious and the massive beer marquee was ready for an onslaught. This was one of the biggest ever tours by Chalfont, over 25 people through the weekend turned up, drank and sometimes played in Chalfont colours.
Saturday evening came, two bands on at the club, and the women taking their tops of for the lads. The chaps reciprocating, but that was as far as it went. Catherine was in flying form, the photographer not having much chance of staying at the top of a ladder with Catherine shaking it at the bottom. Dan, Al and Mike were having Purple nasty beer fights, so that's how we managed to be in the top three drinking the next day, we didn't actually drink it. Many beer songs were sung whilst the bands were playing next door.
Sunday night was the team curry evening, except for Dan, Al and Mike who concentrated on their drinking. Annie was the first to pass out, after taking part in the "honeymoon" in the afternoon. Coming back from the curry house, we heard the bad news, our final challenge to the top of the drinking table was thwarted as the electric had been cut, and the evening was over. So the local pub it was.
Monday came and went, the two toilets were awful, good job it had been sunny all weekend, and we toddled off home, preparing for the Bognor tour (coming soon).
So, the limited number of photos I have been able to scan here, are now viewable here:
