Chalfont St. Peter Cricket
Club: 1st XI Photographs, 2003 These photographs were taken during
the Skinner Cup Quarter Final match, at home to Chesham, on Sunday, 10th August,
2003. It was a strange see-saw match. We batted first and were
soon in trouble at 20-3, but then recovered well to reach 172-8 from our 45
overs. In reply, Chesham got off to a flier, and reached 77-0 from 11
overs, then a middle order collapse reduced them on 143-9, only for their
last wicket pair put on 30 runs to win the match!

| Amit Puri again, forcing off the back foot. |

| Rhys Mander clipping to leg. |
 |
| Rhys Mander again, playing a cover drive. |
 |
| And a third photograph of Rhys Mander
batting, another cover drive! Which is fairly ironic, as Rhys
wasn't in for long! But he did make his mark later in the day with
an excellent bowling spell. |
 |
| Saqib Ahmed, who made an excellent 42 not
out, clipping one to leg in his usual elegant style. |
 |
| And, finally, three wise men watching the
game. On the left is Shabir Ahmed (Shabs), who helped roll the
pitch in the morning, and then helped make the teas, and then cleared up
afterwards while we were fielding ... all in a normal day's work for
Shabs. In the centre is Zamir Khan (Zeddy), 1st XI club captain,
who has already passed 1000 runs this season and hit an unbelievable 58
sixes on the way; today, though, unfortunately, Zeddy failed to trouble
the scorers, but he did get into the match later on with the ball,
taking three wickets. And, on the right is Anil Puri, who is
enjoying the performance of his son, Amit (61 runs and four wickets
today). |
