Thu 18th Aug, Ladies 3rd, against Henley, 7.30pm (Henley)

The Sunday 1st XI travelled to North Maidenhead and achieved another victory which maintains our outside chance of winning the MASL. We won the toss and batted first, posting 212-9 in 40 overs, with the main contributions coming from Matthew Stevenson (26), Rahul Punj (54), Zamir Khan (37) and Shahid Din (37). North Maidenhead were then devastated by an outstanding spell of seam bowling by Adil Irfan (5-24) and collapsed to 36-5 after 13 overs. Their opening batsman then proceeded to play a highly eccentric innings (11 runs from 25 overs) and this allowed us to use ten bowlers - Babloo (2-18), Chris Yoxall (1-17) and Tim Graver (0-13) making the most of the rare opportunity to turn their arms over. A win by 19 runs.

Chalfont Park Phoenix sealed their second successive league title on Wednesday night with a 23-7 victory over FBI. Chris Blamey was awarded MVP chiefly for hitting a grand slam home run to take not only the mercy rule win, but also the league.

This is a great achievement for the club, meaning Phoenix will be now be playing Divsion 1 softball in only their third season.

Many thanks to all who have played, coached, supported and scored over the course of the season.

Thursday night saw the final league game for the Flames, who also won on the mercy rule, beating Thames Valley Rangers 27-6. Flames are in cup action next Thursday at the club against top of the table Thames Valley Outlaws.
