Any Other Business

Keith Neave asked some questions about the club’s external catering contract, most especially why it was not possible for club members to produce their own food for certain events. Matthew Stevenson acknowledged that the catering contract was a long-standing grievance for some cricket members; however, he made it clear that he supported the official CPSA Board position that the external catering contract was beneficial to the club overall, citing the increased profitability on external events, the lack of volunteers to make teas and tidy up afterwards and the need to comply with Health and Safety regulations. Keith Neave maintained that the contract could be more flexible. Matthew Stevenson accepted this point, but pointed out that the deal had to be commercially viable for the contractors. In reference to Keith Neave’s particular concern about the profitability of the junior presentation evening, David Peters and Murray Scott both made the point that not all social events should be judged purely on their profitability.
