Apologies: Matthew Stevenson, Gavin Mander, Jonathan Chapman, James Mallinder Matters Arising From Previous Minutes The minutes of the 2000 AGM were read and accepted. At the previous AGM it had been requested that the minutes be put on the noticeboard prior to the meeting, but this had not been possible due to the fire at the clubhouse. Chairman’s Report Simon Seabrook submitted a written report. The main points were that the club had done well to survive the fire. In his absence, Matthew Stevenson submitted a written report. Treasurer’s Report Murray Scott submitted written accounts for the year to 30th September, 2000 (see attached). Expenditure had been higher than income, which was partly due to the lack of games played and the consequential shortfall in match fees. The Annual Dinner was not in this year's accounts due to the Sports Club becoming a limited company, and a consequential change in accounting period. The costs of the fixture cards had increased because the printers have been struggling to get advertising. Club Captains’ Reports Satish Sharma reported that the Saturday 1st XI had had a reasonable season despite poor availability. The outstanding players were Zamir Khan and Mohammad Hanif. David Peters reported that the Saturday 2nd XI had had a disappointing season, especially after doing so well in the previous season; he added that the season had started well but poor availability led to the results falling away. Simon Gooch reported that the Sunday 1st XI had had a reasonable season in terms of results, but that availability had been as bad on Sundays as it had been on Saturdays. Richard Heath reported a very difficult season that the Sunday 2nd XI with, once again, poor availability the biggest problem. Colts’ Report Tony Hewston reported that numerically the colts section had continued to grow. Phil Noot said that the Under 13s and Under 11s had had reasonable seasons, but that there had been a lack of commitment from the Under 12s. There were lots of boys in the Under 10s age group, but they had not played any matches. It is hoped that next year a couple of parents might be recruited to run the Under 14s age group. Simon Seabrook suggested that next spring we should hold a parents' evening, with Steve Goldthorpe of the ECB in attendance, the idea being to try to encourage the parents to become more involved in the running of teams. Proposed merger between Chalfont St. Peter C.C. and Sir Ali C.C. Simon Seabrook outlined the reasons for this proposal from the committee: the background to the idea was Sir Ali’s desire for a home ground, and Chalfont’s need for more players, especially on a Sunday. The matter had been debated at great length in committee meetings, and it was thought that the main benefits would be increased numbers on Sundays, and increased standards on both Saturdays and Sundays. Obviously, many of the Sir Ali players already play for Chalfont on Saturdays. Selection would be based purely on ability, the Sir Ali players would pay full subscriptions, and the Sir Ali funds (approximately £300) would be transferred into the Chalfont account. The merged club would play as Chalfont St. Peter Cricket Club and take its constitution in full. The motion was passed with two abstentions.
