Matters
Arising
- Complaint from
Fleet C.C.: Matthew Stevenson reported that Fleet C.C. had made an
informal complaint to the TVCL about the conduct of our 3rd XI in a
recent Division 9 match. Dan Webb said that, after reviewing the matter
with senior committee members and several players who played in the
match, it had been agreed that Fleet’s complaint was somewhat one-sided.
Nonetheless, our 3rd XI captain, Tariq Gulfishan, has been reminded that
he is responsible for upholding the spirit of cricket at all times. This
matter is now closed.
- Internal
disciplinary matter: Asim Ahmed has been suspended for two weeks after
failing to turn up for a recent TVCL 2nd XI
match.
- Annual
subscription refunds: Matthew Stevenson reported that Shazi Chughtai had
made himself unavailable for the rest of the season and, after only
playing two matches, has asked for a refund of his annual subscription.
It was agreed that refunds should only ever be given at the discretion
of the committee and that such a refund was not appropriate in this
case. However, in line with past decisions, it was agreed to put his
membership on hold for a year, which means that he will not have to pay
an annual subscription next season.
Cricket
Report
- Captains’ reports: Zamir Khan reported that
the 1st XI had still not won a match yet this season as was currently
adrift at the bottom of Division 2B of the TVCL. Martin Crossley
reported that the 2nd XI was doing a little better – it had recently won
its first match and is presently placed 9th out of 10 in Division 4A.
The 3rd XI is continuing its good run and is presently top of Division
9. The Sunday 1st XI is presently top of the TCSL, the Sunday 2nd XI has
won an unprecedented four matches in a row, and the 3rd XI has been
playing regularly.
- Junior report: Phil Noot reported that the
junior season had gone very well, with teams from Under 11 to Under 17
all playing regularly.
- President’s Day: This event will take place
on Friday, 8th August. Dan Webb said that he would organize the
catering. Matthew Stevenson said that he would send out an email
inviting all the life members. Both the President’s and Club XIs are
taking shape.
- Spare balls: Matthew Stevenson suggested
that a box of spare balls should be kept behind at the club at all times
– he said that in two recent TVCL matches there had been long delays
while a suitable replacement ball was found.
- Clubhouse keys: There was a discussion
about the lack of keys amongst captains, which tends to happen over time
as keys are lost and captains change. Andy Parsons was given the action
to chase this matter with the CPSA board.
Treasurer’s Report
- Current
balance: Murray Scott was unable to attend the meeting but reported that
our current balance was £1718.
- Match fees:
Murray Scott has reported that no match fees have been banked since the
middle of May. Dan Webb said that he had a lot of money at home which he
had not yet had time to bank. All the captains present said that they
were up-to-date with the collection of match
fees.
Fixtures
Report
- Skinner Cup:
Dave Nolder reported that this week’s Sunday fixtures were having to be
extensively re-arranged due to the club having a home match in the
Skinner Cup on a date when the Sunday was previously due to play at
home.
- Midweek
fixtures: Zamir Khan asked if it was possible to arrange some midweek
home fixtures. Dave Nolder took the action to put an advertisement on
the various fixture web sites.
Ground
Report
- Square: the
square continues to play very well and, as club captain, Zamir Khan
offered a special vote of thanks to Shabhir Ahmed for his efforts this
season.
- Outfield: the
outfield is also in immaculate condition and Zamir Khan offered another
special vote of thanks, this time to Keith Neave, for his work on the
outfield.
- Shed: Dan Webb
reported that the new shed had not yet been painted; Dave Nolder said
that he would try to get this job done before President’s Day and Zamir
Khan reiterated his offer to supply the paint.
- Machinery: Dan
Webb reported that no further progress had been made on getting the
various machinery serviced.
Development
- Beaconsfield:
Dan Webb and Keith Neave reported that they had had some initial
conversations with Beaconsfield about the development of our
relationship re juniors and the use of their 3rd XI ground. Watch this
space for more details.
Fund
Raising Report
- Barbecues: it
was agreed that we should hold two further barbecues in an attempt to
sustain our fund-raising effort: these will take place on Saturday, 2nd
August and Friday, 29th August. Andy Parsons was given the action to
organize these events with help from Mandeep Gill.
