Matters
Arising
- Annual
subscriptions: Tony Hewston reported that the club selection policy,
which requires all players to be fully paid up members in order to be
eligible for selection, had been successfully implemented this season.
Cricket
Report
- Selection: Tony Hewston reported that there
had been a number of selection issues since the last committee meeting
but they have hopefully now been resolved.
- Captains’ reports: Zamir Khan reported that
the 1st XI had had a disappointing start to the TVCL season, and Razaq
Ishaq reported likewise for the 2nd XI; Tariq Gulfishan reported a good
start for the 3rd XI with two wins and a draw from the first three
matches; Mudho Ahmed, Gareth Noot reported good starts for the Sunday
1st and 2nd XIs; Dan Webb reported that Keith Neave had resigned as
Sunday 3rd XI captain and that Tom Day had taken
over.
- Junior report: Phil Noot reported a good
start to the junior season, with already more matches played than in the
whole of last year’s rain-interrupted season.
- Overseas player: Matthew Stevenson reported
that Mohammad Shujaudin had been registered with the TVCL as an overseas
player but, further to the discussions at previous meetings when it was
decided that we could not afford a non-paying player this season, he has
also paid an annual subscription and will pay a full match fee for every
game he plays.
- President’s Day: it was agreed that Tariq
Gulfishan will skipper the club XI; Tony Hewston asked all the captains
to take availability for the day (Friday, 8th August) so that the club
XI can be selected at the next selection meeting.
- Teas: all the captains reported that making
our own teas again was going well.
Treasurer’s Report
- Financial
report: in the absence of Murray Scott there was no
report.
- Match fees:
all the captains said that they were up-to-date with the banking of
match fees.
- Club kit:
Mandeep Gill was unable to attend the meeting but reported that, as
there had been some problems with the sizes on the club kit order, the
profit will only be £280.
Fixtures
Report
- Sunday 3rd XI:
Dave Nolder reported that he had now arranged a full fixture list for
the Sunday 3rd XI.
Ground
Report
- Square: Dan
Webb reported that £185 had been spent on weed killer and feed for the
square; Matthew Stevenson said that he thought the square was playing
very well, with just occasional low bounce.
- Outfield: Dan
Webb reported that the overgrown area around the boundary and picket
fence had been sprayed with sodium chloride; the outfield is in
excellent condition.
- Shed: Dan Webb
reported that the new shed had arrived; Dave Nolder offered to paint it
a dark green colour and Zamir Khan offered to supply the
paint.
- Machinery: Dan
Webb reported that all the machinery was presently working well, but
that none of it had been serviced for at least two years due to the
club’s financial problems; Tariq Gulfishan said that he knew someone who
might be able to get the servicing done at a reasonable rate; Zamir Khan
said that he is be able to purchase lawn mowers and other machinery at a
good rate if the club decided to make this
investment.
Development
- Grant: Ben
Kunicki reported that we had received a grant of £300 from the Bucks
Playing Fields Association.
- CRB Clearance:
Ben Kunicki reported that he was still waiting on Damien Dunlop, the ECB
Development Officer for Bucks, re getting all the relevant people CRB
cleared.
Fund
Raising Report
- In the absence
of Andy Parsons there was no report.
Any Other
Business
- Practice
facility: Phil Noot expressed a concern that senior players were using
the facility at a time when it was reserved for the juniors, namely
Friday evenings from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
- Covers: Phil
Noot also said that more help was needed re putting the covers on after
a junior match, because they are heavy to push and it requires at least
four adults to move each one into place.
