Chalfont St. Peter Cricket Club: Minutes, 27th March, 2007

 

  • Present: Present: Dan Webb (chairman), Mudho Ahmed, Saqib Ahmed, David Banner, Mandeep Gill, Tony Hewston, Razaq Ishaq, Zamir Khan, Keith Neave, Dave Nolder, Andy Parsons, Murray Scott, Matthew Stevenson

Matters Arising from AGM

  • Vacant positions: Matthew Stevenson said that it was important to fill the three important vacant positions from the AGM, namely Club Development Officer, Sunday 1st XI Vice Captain and 3rd XI Captain, as soon as possible.

Matters Arising from last meeting

  • Annual Dinner, Friday, 24th November: Andy Parsons reported that the event had made a profit of £100; three debtors are being chased.
  • Indoor nets: Tony Hewston said that, for various reasons, he had been unable to organize any indoor nets

Cricket Report

  • Overseas players: Adil Irfan is unwell and has had to return to India; there was a long discussion about our options for the 2007 season, but it was agreed that any overseas player we do recruit must be a good team man and must also contribute to the club off the field of play.
  • President’s Day: Matthew Stevenson reported that this year’s match will take place on Friday, 10th August; Saqib Ahmed will organize the club XI and Simon Seabrook, on behalf of Sam Machin, will organize the President’s XI.

Fixtures Report

  • Fixtures on web site: Dave Nolder will enter the 2007 fixtures on the club web site; Matthew Stevenson will liaise with Neil Turner to get him a user name and password.
  • Fixture booklets: Dan Webb will organize this year’s fixture booklets.

Ground Report

  • Square and outfield: David Banner reported that pre-season work on the square had begun, but the outfield was still being devastated by moles.
  • Machinery: David Banner reported that the roller was leaking oil at present but hoped that he would be able to fix it at the weekend; Mandeep Gill suggested that we should consider obtaining the ICI roller, which at the moment is not being used.
  • Practice facility: Dan Webb reported that the uprights and netting would be completed this weekend. The matting will then be purchased and put down before the start of the new season.
  • Cricket Force Weekend: Dan Webb said that this event was going ahead next weekend, 31st March and 1st April, 10.00am start on both days; there was a long discussion about the tasks to undertake, and they were eventually defined as follows:
    • wash and paint the sightscreens;
    • roll the outfield where the moles have been causing problems;
    • clean the changing rooms and remove the carpet;
    • replace the wheels on the covers and attach the covers to the frames;
    • repair and paint the picket fence where appropriate;
    • strim around the boundary, clubhouse and car park edges;
    • remove the fallen tree;
    • tidy up the groundsman’s work area.

Treasurer’s Report

  • Current balance: Matthew Stevenson reported that Murray Scott had informed him that the current balance was approximately £2200, with about £150 of bills to pay; Tony Hewston asked whether or not we had enough money to pay for the matting for the new practice facility – Dan Webb said that he would call Murray Scott to get an exact picture of our financial position.
  • CCC subscriptions: Matthew Stevenson reported that the CCC was proposing to increase its rates by 20% for the 2008 season.

Other Business

  • Jack Rickard: Matthew Stevenson reported that one of the great stalwarts of the club, Jack Rickard, had died in New Zealand at the age of 98.
