CHALFONT ST PETER CRICKET CLUB SELECTION GUIDELINES
The following selection policy was put together as an aid for selection at a meeting on the 8th May 2006 by the team Captains, Players Representative and the Club Secretary. It will be used in order to help selectors pick teams for the season as well as giving players a clear and transparent set of objectives to aspire to.
- Non-payment of yearly subs/outstanding match fees – you will not be selected if your subs are not paid after the final due date. Please contact your captain if you are struggling with the payment – there are options.
- Match performance – this will be assessed on a weekly basis by your Captain/Vice Captain and discussed at selection meetings.
- Regular availability – to work well as teams players need to play on a regular basis with each other. It is also up to the players to assist your captains in being pro-active in the communication of your availability.
- Attitude – we are a club and together we should all support one another. If a player causes problems on or off the pitch with other players/coaches/umpires their captain the will deal with the situation and then it is down to the committees discretion as to whether they are selected.
- Holidays/unavailability – everyone has holidays, but be aware that if you are away for a week the team that you normally play for may not be the one you get selected for on your return. Captains may feel you need a week in another team to get back into your match performance. Captains discretion.
- Training attendance – this is compulsory on a weekly basis unless you have unavoidable circumstances (this is not acceptable every week). Training is currently on a Thursday night where either net or fielding practice will be taking place.
