Matters Arising
- Stoke Green: Matthew Stevenson said that he had still not heard any more from the TVCL re Stoke Green’s appeal.
- Trophies: in the absence of David Peters there was no further progress to report.
- NatWest Cricket Force: this event over the weekend of 8th/9th April was a great success – the changing rooms were cleaned and painted, and about 75% of the picket fence has been painted with engine oil.
- Groundsman: Shabir Ahmed is able to continue in his role as groundsman in the 2006 season.
- Indoor nets: Dan Webb reported that attendance had been slightly disappointing but it was agreed that they were nonetheless worthwhile.
- Overseas players: Matthew Stevenson reported that Adil Irfan has still not received his passport.
Cricket Report
- Juniors: Dan Webb reported that he had set up a junior committee; match fees and subscriptions will be paid directly into the cricket section this season.
- 3rd XI ground and Flix pitch: Jonathan Lindsay said that he planned to speak to local schools about a joint relationship, whereby the school applies for ECB funding for a Flix pitch (a portable artificial surface, which can be left in place to allow grass to grow through it) and the club provides coaching and also uses the school ground for junior and 3rd XI matches; Keith Neave acknowledged the usage pressure on the Chalfont Park square but expressed the opinion that the juniors should play home matches at Chalfont Park; Jonathan Lindsay will open a dialogue with the local schools and the matter will be reviewed at the next meeting.
- TVCL Disciplinary Meeting: Dan Webb, Matthew Stevenson and Rahul Punj (deputising for Saqib Ahmed) will attend this meeting to discuss the club’s poor administration in 1st XI matches over the last 2-3 seasons.
- Selection meetings: in the absence of Tony Hewston, Dan Webb will organize an initial selection meeting before the first full weekend of matches on 29th/30th April.
- Teas and bar: Matthew Stevenson will sort out arrangements with the new caterers.
- Web site updates: Matthew Stevenson said that he would update the latest news, fixtures and junior section – re the latter, he asked the junior coaches for information and photographs etc.
Fixtures Report
- President’s Day: Matthew Stevenson said that the date for this year’s match has been provisionally set for Friday, 18th August.
- Web site: Matthew Stevenson asked Phil Noot and Keith Neave to publish the junior fixtures on the club web site as soon as possible.
- Bucks Under 15s Match: Matthew Stevenson said that there was a junior county match at the club on Bank Holiday Monday, 1st May, 11.00am start; Dan Webb said that he would represent the club on the day.
Ground Report
- Roller: Dan Webb reported that the roller had broken down badly and that a cheap and quick repair was unlikely; in the meantime, David Banner has hired a replacement at a cost of £200 per week to do the pre-season rolling.
- Mowers: it is unclear whether any of the mowers need repair or servicing; it is thought that the scarifier is not working at present.
- Bowling machine: David Banner has let it be known that the bowling machine has been repaired.
- Moles: the outfield is still under attack from moles; David Banner is trying to deal with the problem.
- New practice facility: Dave Nolder reported that there had been no progress since the last meeting; the portable nets will be used to provide a temporary solution until the practice facility is completed, although this is not ideal as it places extra work on the groundsman.
- Work parties: Dan Webb will organize a further work party to complete the painting of the picket fence with used engine oil.
Development Report
- Chris N. Yoxall reported that there had not been any major developments since the last meeting.
Treasurer’s Report
- Bills paid: Matthew Stevenson reported that he had paid two bills, the TVCL balls and handbooks (GBP460) and the Bucks Cricket Board membership (GBP45).
Fund Raising Report
- Board meeting: Andy Parsons said that there was nothing new to report this month; he plans to attend the CPSA Board meeting next week and discuss our fund-raising ideas.
- Fixture booklets: Dan Webb took the action to chase Zamir Khan re this season’s booklets.
