Matters Arising

  • Fixture booklets: Zamir Khan paid over £400 to the treasurer.
  • Stoke Green: Matthew Stevenson said that he had still not heard any more from the TVCL re Stoke Green’s appeal.
  • Trophies: in the absence of David Peters there was no further progress to report.
  • CPSA membership: in the light of CPSA’s ongoing review of membership, Matthew Stevenson asked Dan Webb to be aware that Nigel Shaw is expecting to be nominated as a Vice President at the next AGM of CPSA.

Cricket Report

  • Players’ Representative: Dan Webb announced that he had created a new role on the committee and that Tony Hewston had agreed to take on this position.
  • Indoor nets: Tony Hewston has arranged some practice sessions on Sunday evenings at Chalfont Leisure centre.
  • Overseas players: Saqib Ahmed said that Tahir Rashid is returning for a second season in 2006; Matthew Stevenson said that Adnan Khan was unavailable in 2006 and that he had not heard any more from Adil Irfan, who is still having difficulty in obtaining a visa.
  • Cricket balls: Saqib Ahmed will ask Tahir Rashid to purchase 30-40 balls in Pakistan and bring them with him when he comes to England.

Fixtures Report

  • 2006 fixtures: Dan Webb said that he is adding the final touches and will hand them over to Matthew Stevenson before the start of the new season.
  • Pitch bookings: Matthew Stevenson said that, if the groundsman’s work has to be done in the evenings (see below), then pitch bookings may become an issue – because the groundsman will need a minimum of two free evenings per week to do his job.

Ground Report

  • Moles: the outfield is once again under attack from moles; Dan Webb said that David Banner was trying to deal with the problem.
  • Groundsman: in the absence of David Banner, there was nothing to report; Zamir Khan offered to try to establish Shabir Ahmed’s availability or otherwise and report back to Dan Webb.
  • New practice facility: in the absence of Dave Nolder there was nothing further to report; it has now been decided that we will predominantly use external suppliers rather than volunteer labour, which should help us get the facility up and running earlier.
  • Work parties: there will be work parties on the weekend of 8th/9th April to, amongst other tasks, treat the picket fence and do any required manual work on the practice facility project; see Development Report below.

Development Report

  • Junior kit: Chris N. Yoxall said that his efforts to obtain a grant from Chiltern District Council for junior kit was ongoing and he was hopeful of a favourable outcome.
  • Child protection: Dan Webb said that he had booked places on approved training courses for Keith Neave and Jenny Brown.
  • CRB checks: Dan Webb said that he was looking into getting clearance on a group rather than individual basis.
  • Clubmark: Dan Webb said that he had begun the process of registering the club; it is likely to be a long process, but we have made a good start with the development plan (see below).
  • Development plan: Dan Webb presented some documents for review by the committee and asked for feedback over the next week or so.
  • NatWest Cricket Force: Dan Webb outlined this ECB sponsored initiative, to take place on the weekend of 8th/9th April, which could result in the club obtaining a £100 grant towards the costs of pre-season refurbishment to the ground and pavilion; he suggested that we combine this event with weekend work parties.

Treasurer’s Report

  • Current balance: Murray Scott reported that this was circa £9300.
  • Annual Dinner Dance: Murray Scott said that he had still not been able to establish a profit figure for this event, as he did not have the invoice from the caterers.

Fund Raising Report

  • New policy: Andy Parsons reported that all fund raising events should be run and approved by the CPSA board in the future.
  • World Cup Quiz: Dan Webb reported that he had created an online facility for entering predictions and progress reports.
