Chalfont St. Peter Cricket Club: Minutes, 12th October, 2005

Present: Matthew Stevenson (chairman), Dave Nolder, Rahul Punj, Dan Webb

Apologies: David Banner, Zamir Khan, David Peters, Murray Scott

Matters Arising

• Attendance of committee meeting: Matthew Stevenson bemoaned the poor turnout at tonight’s meeting – not the first time this has happened in recent times.
• Annual award trophies: these will be engraved after the Annual Dinner in November.
• ECB Coaching Courses: Rahul Punj said that he had still not booked his place on an ECB coaching course; unfortunately, all the places on the Bucks courses have now been taken up, but it may be possible to get on another course outside the county.
• New practice facility: the project sub committee has met several times and there have been several work parties; the existing frame and the picket fence surrounding it have been taken down; the area to be concreted has been marked out; financing and support for the work parties is a concern but these are very early days in the project.
• Fixture booklets: in the absence of Zamir Khan there was no further progress to report.
• Match Fees: in the absence of Murray Scott a breakdown of match fees for the 2005 season was not available.
• Stoke Green: Matthew Stevenson said that he had been informed by Kevin Fraser, secretary of the TVCL, that Stoke Green had appealed against the TVCL’s decision re the incident in our Division 2B home match earlier this season.

Cricket Report

• Committee positions 2006: Matthew Stevenson said that he had been discussing next year’s positions with existing committee members; he also said that he wanted to create a new role next season, an ECB/League Rep.
• Annual Awards 2005: the committee agreed most of the annual awards as follows:
o Club batsman: Tahir Rashid
o Club bowler: Shahid Din
o Club fielder: Simon Gooch
o Clubman: t.b.a.
o Saturday 2nd XI player: Tony Hewston
o Sunday 1st XI player: Zamir Khan
o Sunday 2nd XI player: Jonathan Lindsay
o Outstanding batting performance: Tahir Rashid
o Outstanding bowling performance: Shahid Din
o David Eade award (2nd XI catches): t.b.a.
o Most promising young player: Asim Ahmed
o Six hit award: Tahir Rashid
• 3rd XI in 2006: Dan Webb reported that Jonathan Lindsay was keen to establish this team next season, with an emphasis on junior players getting a first taste of senior cricket.

Ground Report

• Square: David Banner has let it be known that the end of season work is underway.
• Ground: in the absence of David Banner there was no report; outstanding issues remain the quotations for a new storage facility, spraying the picket fence, protecting the wiring for the electronic scorebox, and cutting down various overhanging branches.
• Machinery: in the absence of David Banner there was no report, but it is understood that the mowers need some attention and the bowling machine needs to be repaired.

Finance

• Annual subscriptions 2005: Malcolm Upton has now settled his debt; the respective debts of Neal Collins, Muhammad Kassam and Gareth Noot will be written off and renegotiated as and when they start playing again next season.

Fund Raising & Social

• End of Season Dinner: in the absence of Andy Parsons there was no report on progress; Dan Webb and Dave Nolder suggested that the event should be run to make a profit with the new practice facility in mind – this would mean raising the ticket price to GBP20 per head and running a good raffle.
• Murder Mystery Evening: Dan Webb will propose this as a CPSA fund raising event to be run in the new year.

Next Meeting

• Next meeting: Wednesday, 9th November, 2005, 8.00pm in the clubhouse.
