Chalfont St. Peter Cricket Club: Minutes, 15th June, 2005

Present: Matthew Stevenson (chairman), David Banner, Zamir Khan, Keith Neave, Phil Noot, Andy Parsons, David Peters

Apologies: Rahul Punj, Murray Scott

Matters Arising

• Annual award trophies: David Peters has not yet managed to get the trophies engraved but he hopes to do so in the near future.
• Junior club shirts: these have arrived and have been distributed to the junior players.
• Fixture booklets: Zamir Khan said that he hoped to get them printed in the next week or so.
• Fun in the Park: Andy Parsons and Keith Neave are making plans for a junior cricket match as part of this event.
• Overseas players: Matthew Stevenson reported that he was in discussion with Adil Irfan about him returning this season to play for the 2nd XI. Tahir Rashid is performing well for the 1st XI.
• Bucks Under 15 match: the staging of this match was a success but David Banner said that it was vital for two or three committee members to give up a Sunday afternoon and entertain the visitors if these events are to be a success in the future.

Cricket Report

• Practice evenings: these have been reasonably well attended.
• Results and availability: these have both been reasonably good so far this season.
• Selection meetings: Matthew Stevenson said that he had now got these meetings going and the general feeling was that they have proved beneficial.
• Publicity: match reports are appearing regularly in the newsletter; Andy Parsons will try to get more coverage in the Buckinghamshire Advertiser

Ground Report

• Future projects: it was agreed that refurbishing the practice facility should be our top priority during the winter, with covers the second priority; David Banner said that we needed a new storage facility and suggested a wooden shed behind/alongside the storage containers
• Square: the square is playing very well, with more bounce than in previous years.
• Outfield: the outfield is in excellent condition.
• Picket fence: David Banner said that he had replaced the missing pickets; we do, however, in the reasonably near future need to apply an oil-based substance to protect the wood.
• Electronic scorebox: David Banner said that the wiring needs to be protected from rats who eat through the wire; various remedies were discussed but a definitive plan was not agreed.
• Car park: the grass still needs to be strimmed.
• Machinery: David Banner said that all the machinery was currently working well.
• Covers: David Banner reiterated his concern about the tarpaulin cover, which may not comply with TVCL regulations.

Finance

• Fixture booklets 2004: Zamir Khan said that he is still chasing the £100, which is outstanding from last year’s fixture booklets.
• Annual dinner 2004: there has been no further progress on Shahid Din’s debt.
• Annual subscriptions 2004: there has been no further progress on the two outstanding debtors, Amit Puri and Dean Page.
• Match Fees 2005: it is believed that these are pretty well up-to-date.
• Annual subscriptions 2005: Matthew Stevenson expressed his frustration at the number of players who have still not paid up, and asked all the captains to chase harder.

Fund Raising

• Indian BBQ and Casino Night: Andy Parsons said this event was now confirmed and asked everyone to help him with ticket sales.

Fixtures

• Senior fixtures: there have been a couple of fixture misunderstandings (one re venue and one re the opposition not turning up); the Sunday 1st XI was the unlucky team on both occasions.
• President’s Day 2005: Matthew Stevenson confirmed that this year’s event will take place on Friday, 26th August.

Next Meeting

• Next meeting: Wednesday, 13th July, 2005, 8.00pm in the clubhouse.
