Chalfont St. Peter Cricket
Club: Minutes, 13th April, 2005
Present: Matthew Stevenson (chairman), Saqib Ahmed, Shabir Ahmed, David
Banner, Zamir Khan, Phil Noot, Andy Parsons, David Peters, Rahul Punj, Dan
Webb
Apologies: Murray Scott
Matters Arising
• Annual award trophies: David Peters has not yet managed to get the
trophies engraved but he hopes to do so in the near future.
• Junior club shirts: Zamir Khan forgot to bring the shirts to the meeting
but promised to bring them the next time he comes to the club.
• Fixture booklets: Saqib Ahmed said that he was still waiting for a
definitive fixture list and one or two outstanding advertisements; Zamir
Khan hoped that we will make a good profit but said that this was dependent
on getting the booklets printed free of charge.
• Fun in the Park: it was agreed that we should challenge Chalfont St. Giles
to a Twenty 20 match on Bank Holiday Monday.
• Overseas players: Matthew Stevenson reported that Adnan Khan will not now
be able to arrive in England until June. It was agreed that Rahul Punj would
check Adil Irfan’s availability and Zamir Khan will chase up two other
leads, a South African who is already in London and his brother-in-law, who
plans to come to England this summer. Matthew Stevenson asked Zamir Khan to
take ownership of this task while he is away on business.
Cricket Report
• Practice evenings: these will take place on Thursday evenings as in
previous seasons.
• Outdoor practice: Rahul Punj is organising an outdoor practice session for
this Sunday.
• Availability: David Peters will put together an availability spreadsheet;
the first matches take place the weekend after next.
• Chairman of selectors: Matthew Stevenson regretted that he would not now
be able to fulfil this role, in the early part of the season at least; he
asked all the captains to liase with the junior managers and ensure that all
our promising young cricketers are being offered matches in the senior XIs.
Ground Report
• Square: Shabir Ahmed reported that work was progressing well.
• Outfield: David Banner reported that he had cut the outfield several times
and it was looking good.
• Work parties: Andy Parsons will arrange another work party, possibly on
the morning of one of the matchdays next weekend, to complete the
outstanding tasks; David Banner mentioned replacing the missing pickets on
the fence and strimming the grass alongside the car park as two good jobs to
get done.
• Machinery: David Banner said that the outfield mower will need to be
serviced and repaired in the not too distant future.
• Covers: David Banner said that we have a single tarpaulin cover, which
will suffice to comply with TVCL regulations this season. Rahul Punj said
that he would organise work parties to build proper covers next winter.
Finance
• Fixture booklets 2004: Zamir Khan said that he is still chasing the £100,
which is outstanding from last year’s fixture booklets.
• Annual dinner 2004: there has been no further progress on Shahid Din’s
debt.
• Annual subscriptions 2004: there has been no further progress on the two
outstanding debtors, Amit Puri and Dean Page.
Fund Raising
• Summer barbecues: Saqib Ahmed said that he was planning dates for next
summer’s Indian barbecue events.
Fixtures
• Senior fixtures 2005: Dan Webb said that he fixtures were now almost
completed; Matthew Stevenson asked him to furnish Saqib Ahmed and Zamir Khan
with a completed list for the fixture booklets.
• President’s Day 2005: Dan Webb said that he had still not been able to tie
down a definitive date with Sam Machin; provisionally, the date is set for
the first Friday in August again.
Any Other Business
• Next meeting: Wednesday, 18th May, 2005, 8.00pm in the clubhouse.
