Matters Arising From Previous Minutes
• Sir Ali memorabilia for the club web site: there has been no progress on
this.
• Buckinghamshire Advertiser Midweek League: David Banner said that there
had only been five or six entrants so far, and that the matches had not yet
got underway. He will chase up John Fisher to discuss how to progress this
idea.
Cricket Report
• Overseas players: Adnan Khan has still not arrived in the UK, but he has
been in touch to say that he hopes to get here next week. Safi Ahmed, who
played for us in 1998, has accepted an invitation to return for a second
season at the club, and will arrive on Saturday morning.
• Teas: Sharon Douglas is unable to continue making the teas on Saturdays,
but she has nominated one of her friends as a replacement.
• President’s Day: Matthew Stevenson said that he had had further
discussions with Sam Machin about this year’s event.
• Availability: this has been improving in recent weeks.
• TVL results: both teams are near the bottom of their respective leagues.
The 2nd XI is playing a higher standard of cricket this season, and both
teams are missing the overseas players we had last year.
• Other results: the Sunday 1st XI won its first MASL match, and the 2nd XI
has recorded four wins already, a dramatic improvement on recent seasons!
• Juniors: Phil Noot said that the season was going well so far. However, he
asked for more support from senior players on Saturday mornings.
• Newsletters: the new style weekly newsletter has been well received.
• Press coverage: the match reports are appearing regularly in the
Buckinghamshire Advertiser.
Treasurer’s Report
• Current balance: Murray Scott was unable to attend the meeting. The match
fees are all up to date, and the current balance is thought to be circa
£800.
• Annual subscriptions: most players have paid up, but there are
approximately ten outstanding debtors. Simon Gooch asked that all monies,
and completed membership forms, be forwarded to Mike Snell, who is the CPSA
membership secretary.
• CPSA Spring Ball: There are still five debtors from this event.
• ECB raffle: Matthew Stevenson said that he would distribute the tickets in
the near future.
Ground Report
• Covers: Andy Watts has a business contact/proposal, which could mean that
we can get new covers at limited, or even no cost. Watch this space!
• Square and outfield: the square has been playing very well, and the
outfield still looks magnificent.
• Expenditure: David Banner said that he needed to spend £260 on a chemical
to remove thatch from the square, and £80 on weedkiller to kill the grass
around the picket fence.
Any Other Business
• Bar: Simon Gooch said that the bar was not being tidied up properly after
cricket matches. There are problems with the use of the dishwasher, and with
dirty glasses being left behind unwashed for the next user to clean. Matthew
Stevenson said that it was the responsibility of the captains to organise
the tidying up of the bar at the end of each match. Simon Gooch offered “bar
training” sessions for all committee members, which would include use of the
dishwasher and changing barrels etc.
• Clubhouse keys: Matthew Stevenson will try to obtain keys for Tony Hewston,
Rahul Punj and Keith Neave.
• CPSA AGM: this will take place on Tuesday, 24th June, 8.00pm, in the
clubhouse.
• Next meeting: this will take place on Wednesday, 2nd July, 8.00pm, in the
clubhouse.
