Chalfont St. Peter Cricket
Club: Minutes, 8th January, 2003 Present: David Banner (chairman), David Peters, Matthew Stevenson, Saqib
Ahmed,
Rahul Punj
Apologies: Simon Gooch, Murray Scott, Mike Burge, Zamir Khan
Matters Arising From Previous Minutes
• The previous meeting, scheduled for 11th December, was cancelled at the
last minute because only Matthew Stevenson and Simon Gooch were able to
attend!
• Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College: Matthew Stevenson said that
there had been no further progress on their proposal.
Cricket Report
• TVL AGM report: David Banner said that he had attended the meeting and
promised to circulate a report by email.
• Overseas players: there was a long discussion on our overseas player
options for the 2003 season; various options were discussed but no decision
was made.
• Midweek captain: Saqib Ahmed said that he would take on this role in the
absence of any other volunteers.
Fixtures Report
• Friendlies: Matthew Stevenson said that he had filled most of the dates
for the friendly fixtures.
• Midweek: Matthew Stevenson said that he had arranged one midweek fixture,
and hoped to find a couple more in the near future.
• President’s Day: it was agreed that this will take place on Friday, 25th
July, 2003.
Treasurer’s Report
• In the absence of Murray Scott, there was nothing to report.
Social Report
• In the absence of Mike Burge, there was nothing to report.
Ground Report
• TVL ground and pitch markings: we have still not received our annual
marks from the TVL.
• Sightscreens: Norwich Union have verbally agreed to settle our insurance
claim, £899 for each of the two destroyed sightscreens, and £490 to repair
the third one. There was a brief discussion about what type of sightscreen
we wanted to order, but Peter Banner explained that a “like for like”
replacement would simplify matters with the insurance company, so it was
agreed to go for wooden ones rather than steel frames. Matthew Stevenson
will order the two new ones from 3-D Cricket, and David Banner will speak to
Peter Glen about the repairs to the third one.
• Covers: there has been no further progress on this subject.
• Work parties: these have been well attended, and the new picket fence has
almost been completed. Further work parties have been arranged for both
Saturday and Sunday this weekend, in the hope of getting the picket fence
finished.
Any Other Business
• Framed photographs: Matthew Stevenson said that he was getting two team
photographs from the 2002 season, one of the Saturday 1st XI and one of the
Saturday 2nd XI, framed for display in the clubhouse. The other old
photographs have still not been put up for display in the clubhouse, because
it has now been decided that they need to be screwed onto the wall for
security purposes.
• Next meeting: there will be an interim meeting on Wednesday, 22nd January,
8.00pm in the clubhouse, to discuss our overseas player options. The next
full committee meeting will be on Wednesday, 5th February, 8.00pm, in the
clubhouse. The AGM will take place two days later, on Friday, 7th February,
again 8.00pm in the clubhouse.
