Present: David Banner (chairman), Matthew Stevenson, David Peters, Simon
Gooch, Murray Scott
Apologies: Mike Burge, Zamir Khan, Saqib Ahmed, Rahul Punj
Matters Arising From Previous Minutes
- Sir Ali funds: the outstanding £100, from the merger with Sir Ali, has
still not been transferred into the club account. David Banner said that he
would settle this amount at the weekend.
- Sunday leagues: Matthew Stevenson said that we had been accepted into the
Maidenhead Advertiser Sunday League for the 2003 season.
- Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College: Matthew Stevenson said that
he had received a further letter re their proposal, but there was nothing
substantial to report.
- Covers: there has been no further progress on this subject.
Cricket Report
- TVL awards: Nouman Habib and Adnan Khan have won the divisional bowling
awards for 2003, for Divisions 2 and 5 respectively.
- Match manager: Matthew Stevenson proposed that a match manager be
appointed for each home match next season. A rota would be drawn up and each
club member would be assigned to one match during the season. The
responsibilities would include opening and closing the clubhouse, paying the
umpires (if appropriate), preparing and serving the teas and washing up
afterwards, opening and closing the bar, doing the TVL administration, and
ensuring that all other ground duties are carried out, for example, putting
away the boundary markers and slip cradle at the end of the day. Matthew
Stevenson emphasized that the match manager would not be expected to do all
these jobs himself, just to take responsibility for them. The joint aims are
a) to reduce the workload on the captains and b) to try to get the general
membership to participate in, and consequently become aware of, what is
required to make the club run smoothly. The committee agreed to implement
this idea in 2003, although Murray Scott did express some concern that, if
the match manager did not take the appropriate responsibility, then the
implications could be serious!
- TVL AGM proposals: the committee discussed each of the proposals for
change.
- Annual awards: the committee decided the winners of this year's annual
awards (see below).

The winners of this year's annual awards were agreed as follows:

Fixtures Report
- TVL fixtures: Matthew Stevenson said that these had been published.
- MASL fixtures: Matthew Stevenson said that these had been published.
- Friendlies: Matthew Stevenson said that he had begun work on the friendly
fixtures.
Treasurer's Report
- Jubilee event: Matthew Stevenson said that he had received a cheque for
£25, from Chiltern District Council, re the event, which was staged at
Chalfont Park during the summer.
- Current balance: Murray Scott said that the current balance is £1460, with
the annual Club Cricket Conference bill still outstanding. He said that we
needed to put aside approximately £600 for cricket balls and affiliation
fees in the spring, but the rest of the money could be paid over to CPSA.
- Cricket accounts: Murray Scott said that he had completed the annual
accounts for the year ended 30th September, 2002. In real terms, we made an
overall profit of approximately £3600.
- Financial plan: Murray Scott said that he had forwarded a financial plan
for the next year to Peter Banner, Financial Director of CPSA.
Ground Report
- Square: the grass is now growing well after the recent wet weather.
- Outfield: the grass looks very good at the moment, although there are lots
of fallen leaves to clear away.
- TVL markings: we have not yet received our annual marks from the TVL.
- Covers: Zamir Khan is still trying to negotiate a deal with Black &
Decker. If nothing materialises from this, then we will apply to the various
funding bodies for support.
- Sightscreens: the warnings at the last meeting were prophetic, as all
three of the remaining sightscreens were damaged beyond repair by the recent
storms. An insurance claim is being prepared by the CPSA board.
- Work parties: the first two work parties were well attended. We have begun
work on the new picket fence, which will encircle the playing area.
Social Report
- Curry and fireworks evening: this was a very successful and enjoyable
evening, but the turnout from the cricketers was slightly disappointing.
- Quiz Night, 23rd November: Mike Burge is organising five teams from the
cricket section.
- Christmas Party, 14th December: Mike Burge is still finalising plans with
the CPSA social committee.
- Annual CPSA dinner dance: as above.
Any Other Business
Next meeting: this will be on Wednesday, 11th December, 8.00pm, in the
clubhouse.
