Present: David Banner (chairman), Matthew Stevenson, David Peters, Simon Gooch,
Andrew Amor, Zamir Khan, Rahul Punj, Saqib Ahmed

Apologies: Murray Scott, Mike Burge, Phil Noot

Matters Arising From Previous Minutes
" 2001 subscription debtors: John Cooper, Richard Heath and Matthew Woods. There has been no further progress on this one.
" Sir Ali funds: The outstanding £100, from the merger with Sir Ali, has still not been transferred into the club account. Zamir Khan asked for some more time to sort this out.
" Teas: Sharon Douglas has taken on the role of tea lady. Everyone is very pleased with the quality of food and the service. However, there has been a concern about the quantity of food available; David Banner said that he would talk to Sharon about this.

Cricket Report
" Results: Matthew Stevenson said that 1st XI results over the last month had been slightly disappointing, with a first round defeat in the Skinner Cup, and three defeats out of four in Division 2B of the TVL; however, we are still placed second in the league table. In contrast, the 2nd XI have had four successive wins in Division 5A of the TVL and are now top of the league. The Sunday 2nd XI achieved their first win of the season last weekend, but have generally struggled, especially with the bat.
" Availability: this has been better than last season, but still very erratic. Over the last three weekends we have successively been short, then had major selection issues, then been short again!
" TVL selection policy: it was agreed that the priority is for the 2nd XI to achieve promotion. This will not be done at the expense of the 1st XI, who need to get back to winning ways, but every effort will be made to maintain the playing strength of the 2nd XI.
" Umpire rating cards: we have been reprimanded, and fined, by the TVL for not returning the aforementioned. Zamir Khan said that this was due to a misunderstanding on his part, and the matter has now been cleared up.
" CCC match: Matthew Stevenson said that most of the plans were now in place. The club XI has been selected, Judy Mander, Caroline Chipperfield and Julie Seabrook will make the teas, David Banner will open the bar, Martin Braisher will umpire, and Shahid Din is organising the Indian barbecue for after the match. The one thing we do not have is a scorer; David Banner offered to do it if we cannot find anyone else.
" This weekend, of 9/10/11th August, is going to be a busy one for the club. After the CCC match on the Friday, we have a 2nd XI league match on the Saturday, which clashes with the wedding, at the club, of Andy Watts and Sarah Birger, and then a Skinner Cup Plate match on the Sunday. Sharon Douglas is away on holiday on this weekend, so we will additionally have to do the teas ourselves.

Treasurer's Report
" Annual subscription debtors: Shahid Din is the only regular 1st XI player, who has not paid. There are one or two 2nd XI players, who have not paid, but they are mainly occasional players, who have not played very many matches this season.
" Match fees: Matthew Stevenson said that the match fees were up to date.
" Current balance: Murray Scott was unable to attend the meeting, but reported that the current balance is £2796.
" Cricket Foundation raffle: Matthew Stevenson said that this had made a profit of £285.

Ground Report
" Practice facility: Alan Moffat, a friend of David Banner, has very kindly obtained three strips of astroturf matting for the club. One has been used to resurface the practice facility, which is now fully operational. We now need to consider if and how we could put the other two strips to good use. An all weather pitch on the edge of the Chalfont Park square, for colts and evening matches? And maybe likewise at the old Alcan ground, if we can get use of it for colts and 3rd XI matches? Further investigation is required, especially re what to lay the astroturf on? Concrete? Sand?
" Covers: we were giving consideration to buying some covers from Chearsley C.C., but this option has been discounted for various reasons, the main one being that they would not cover the whole of a pitch i.e. you would need a tarpaulin cover in the middle. Zamir Khan and David Banner are now giving some thought to the possibility of building some covers from scratch during the winter.
" Sightscreens: we are concerned about the old sightscreen, especially, which seems to be on its last legs. Again, Zamir Khan and David Banner are considering how to build a new one from scratch.
" Priority: Matthew Stevenson expressed the concern that we are trying to do too much at the moment. With this in mind, it was agreed that the priority on the above items should be covers first, sightscreens second and astroturf pitches third.
" Square and outfield: they are both in excellent condition at the moment, and we received maximum marks from the opposition last weekend.
" Slip cradle: David Banner said that he was concerned that it has sometimes been left outside after matches. It was agreed that the captain must ensure that it is brought inside at the end of each match.

Social Events
" Curry night: the CPSA social committee have asked us to organise a curry evening in early November.
" Annual Dinner Dance: Matthew Stevenson has asked the CPSA social committee about the possibility of staging a CPSA Annual Dinner Dance i.e. a joint event for cricket and hockey. This would take place in late March or early April i.e. at the end of the hockey season, but the timing would also be quite good for cricket, coming at the beginning of the new season.

Any Other Business
" Next meeting: this will be on Wednesday, 28th August, 8.00pm in the clubhouse.
