Present:
Matthew Stevenson, Simon Gooch, David Peters, Andrew Amor, Zamir
Khan, Saqib
Ahmed, Satish
Sharma, Rahul Punj Apologies: Tony Hewston, Murray Scott, Phil Noot, David Banner Matters Arising From Previous Minutes ·
There has been no further progress on the 2001
subscription debtors: John Cooper, Richard Heath and Matthew Woods. ·
Mudo Ahmed, Rahul Punj and Asif Ahmed still owe £20
each for club shirts. ·
Saqib Ahmed has paid over the outstanding match
fee, from the Sunday 1st XI match against Chipperfield. ·
The outstanding £100 from the merger with Sir Ali
has still not been paid into the club bank account, because there is a
problem with authorised signatures; it was agreed that the former Sir Ali
players would settle this matter privately, in order to remove it from the
matters arising. ·
Matthew Stevenson said that the rugby events had
been a qualified success; there has been a positive feedback from the hockey
section, but support from the cricketers has been disappointing.
Saqib Ahmed and Rahul Punj volunteered to help out at the remaining
two events, and Satish Sharma said he would be available for the last one. ·
Matthew Stevenson said that he had volunteered the
cricketers to run the bar for the hockey section at their annual dinner on
Saturday, 13th April. Matthew
Stevenson, David Banner and Andrew Amor have so far volunteered for this
job. ·
Matthew Stevenson said that, unfortunately, the
colts managers’ coaching courses were cancelled at the last minute, by the
organisers. ·
Saqib Ahmed said that he had located the missing
Sunday 1st XI scorebook at Sidley, and is making arrangements to retrieve
it. ·
Matthew Stevenson said that three ground work
parties have been arranged, for the Sunday mornings before the indoor net
sessions, which are on 17th and 24th March, and 7th April. ·
Matthew Stevenson added that the dates of the
indoor nets have been widely advertised, in the newsletter, on the web page
and by email reminders. ·
There has been no further progress on the
advertising boards idea, this is now an action point for the CPSA board. ·
Saqib Ahmed said that his brother, Asif, had
purchased twelve cricket balls in Pakistan @ £3 each. Treasurer’s Report ·
In Murray Scott’s absence, there was nothing to
report. Ground Report ·
David Banner is looking into the possibility of
buying an electronic scoreboard. It
would cost up to £3,000 to purchase and install.
David Banner has offered to pay for this, with the club paying him
back at an indefinite time in the future. ·
There has been no further progress re employing a
groundsman for the coming season, but David Banner has been discussing this
matter with various interested parties, and is planning to make a proposal
to the CPSA board in the near future. Cricket Report ·
Matthew Stevenson said that he had written a spring
newsletter, and had sent it out to all club members, either by email or
post. ·
There was a long discussion about the opening day
event on Saturday, 20th April. It
was agreed that the disco should be cancelled, because it could result in us
losing money on the event, which we cannot afford at the moment. The cricket will probably be a six-a-side competition, but
this is dependent on numbers. There
will be tea and biscuits in mid afternoon, followed by a cold buffet and the
presentation of the annual awards in the evening. It was agreed that everyone would chase up cricket members
and encourage them to commit to the event; Matthew Stevenson will maintain a
spreadsheet so that we can get a good idea of numbers before the event.
It is important that the buffet and awards part of the evening goes
ahead, even if the weather and ground conditions do not permit any cricket
to be played. ·
Simon Gooch has been working on the recruitment
poster. He said that he needs
to add a directions map, before getting the posters printed.
The posters then need to be distributed to local notice boards, such
as the library, community centre and leisure centre. ·
Saqib Ahmed agreed to take on the job of press
secretary for the 2002 season. ·
Matthew Stevenson reiterated that we need a cricket
representative on the CPSA social committee.
However, nobody has so far felt able to volunteer for this position. ·
There was a discussion about cricket teas.
It was agreed that we need to do them ourselves this season, in order
to maximise income from match fees. This
is an extra burden on the team captains, which is unfortunate.
Hopefully, we may be in a position to employ an outside contractor in
the 2003 season. ·
Matthew Stevenson said that we needed a rota for
the teas, bar duty and helping out with the colts; he said that he would
create an appropriate spreadsheet and publish it on the club web page. Fixtures Report ·
Matthew Stevenson said that David Banner had almost
finished the fixture booklets. Any Other Business ·
Wednesday, 10th April was pencilled in as the
provisional date for the next meeting.
