Chairman’s Welcome
Hello & welcome to the first newsletter of the now formally merged Amersham &
Chalfont Hockey Club. The first thing I must do is thank everyone who has put in
so much work over the summer to get everything up & running before the season.
The work on the clubhouse is now moving on at pace. I hope that as many people
as possible will be able to make it on the 30th Aug to see how it is
progressing. I am looking forward to having a nice place to come & shower &
socialise after the games.
The Social Committee are in the
process of finalising dates for a series of nights down the club where we will
be able to meet everyone and complete the integration of the clubs. More
importantly, we have the official opening of the clubhouse followed by an
evening do on 22-Sep - I hope that everyone will make an effort to attend what
promises to be a great occasion. The new merged club offers many opportunities
for us. Everyone who has worked over the summer to get things up & running for
the season has put a lot of effort in, but we cannot guarantee a glitch-free
transition. Please can we all look on the bright side while the club settles
down. I look forward to seeing everyone down at the clubhouse for a few beers.
Giles Payne-ACHC Chairman
Editor’s Note:
As there is such a lot to put in this newsletter I’ll keep this as brief as
possible! Can I just ask that if you have an email address please forward it to
me so that future Newsletters and other club information can be sent to you
without the need for endless stuffing (of envelopes) and 19p (postage)!. Many
thanks.

Club Kit
If you have
not already ordered and paid for your new club kit, then please contact Martin
Cartledge as soon as possible because the orders are being made now. Cheques for
£25.00 to Chalfont Park Sports Association.
Ladies Skirts:
Please note that the style has been altered slightly by popular demand to
accommodate a flexible waistband. Unfortunately there is an extra £2.50 cost for
this. Again, please contact Martin ASAP to order your size.
Hockey
Insurance
The club are
arranging insurance through the HA recommended scheme which will cover the club
for any third party claims which may arise. The club will not be providing
insurance for any personal loss or injury. If people require this type of cover
they will need to take this out on an individual basis.
The committee are currently
considering reimbursing coaches for the cost of their coaching liability
insurance. Our initial view is that the club will probably cover any costs
incurred for club duties incurred by unpaid coaches. We will let everyone know
our final decision.
