The A team had a disappointing result in the first game Monday with a 2-0 defeat to Wycombe Rye's 5 players. Not helped by our 6th player being delayed by a broken down train and only arriving towards the end of the first half, the team struggled to find a rhythm and the necessary patience and never got the goal to get things going despite plenty of possession.

In the second game our B squad gave a Slough team (again consisting of only 5 players) a fast and furious game. Slough included an ex-England keeper and a number of their 1's squad players, and passed, moved and dribbled at a tremendous pace. With Alice Wainwright making her debut, and Livvy Lacey playing only her second evening (and at the toughest position Left Back for the first time) both aged only 14, Lorna Dunning on her 4th or 5th evening and aged 15 was one of the senior players of the six! So in the circumstances a 4-2 defeat, having made Slough work hard after the first 5 minutes, was a good result.

The last game of the evening for A&C was between our two sides and in a competitive match the A team eventually pulled away in the second half to win 4-1.

Amersham & Chalfont men's 1st XI enjoyed a competitive match away to Ramgarhia 1st XI at Southall, unfortunately with no points to show for their efforts. From the start A&C looked to go forward and create chances, although Ramgarhia showed more confidence as the away team appeared a little apprehensive. Ramgarhia took the lead after converting their first penalty corner early in the first half.

A&C gradually found some rhythm with their passing and continued to create opportunities to equalise with Martin Cartledge and Ritchie Martin forcing saves from the goalkeeper. During the same period a resilient home team were keen to extend their lead requiring keeper Chris Paine to make some important saves. A&C created some positive build up play with youngster Andy Carruthers making some space for himself and picking out Warren Scott at edge of the circle. A fiercely struck shot beat the Ramgarhia keeper, only to be denied by the inside of the post with the ball landing safely to a Ramgarhia player. A double substitution of Daryl Chiles and James Wolfenden saw the visitors change formation midway through the first half and creating more space on the right. Shortly, another reshuffle was forced as Lau Van Eestren left the pitch with a sudden injury.

Following the interval A&C came out confident of scoring therefore searching for an equaliser. However, they found themselves stretched allowing space for a Ramgarhia player to show off his skills. A combination of his fine skills and some shy tackling meant the home side extended their lead to 2-0 from a solo effort. The lead was extended further soon after by converting a penalty flick. A&C refusing to accept defeat and raised the tempo of their passing. As a result they scored moments later when man of the match Simon Archer initiated the move from right defence then three passes later, Cartledge finished with finesse. The visitors continued to put pressure on for another goal whilst their defence dealt with any Ramgarhia attack comfortably. In particular youngster Simon Archer and Mark Wardman making solid tackles and supporting the midfield for the next attack. At this stage the home team were becoming more interested in slowing play down and wasting time.

Team:- Paine, Wardman, Van Eestren, Van Duyvenbode, Archer, Martin, Chiles, Wolfenden, Jack, Crossman, Carruthers, Scott, Cartledge.
