NEW HOME KIT ORDER
The new home kit will be the
same style shirt as the away shirts, but with
the main body blue and red sides. This decision
was based on lengthy discussions and opinions
taken from the membership, including the vote on
the CPSA forum. Please get your orders to me for
home and away kit as soon as you can so we can
do an order for the start of the season.
Remaining away kit from the last order still
needs to be collected so do contact me if you
are still looking for your away kit!
The cut off date for the
order is next week, Wednesday 21st of September.

NEW PRACTICE FACILITY
Thank you to everyone who
attended last night's meeting. Many ideas were
thrown into the melting pot, and at the end of
the meeting we agreed the following two actions:
Firstly, a project team was formed, with Dave
Nolder as chairman, to oversee the project; it
will probably meet on a weekly basis and the
other members of the team will be Matthew
Stevenson, Andy Parsons, Tony Hewston and both
Chris Yoxall snr and jnr.
Secondly, the first work party will take place
this Saturday morning (17th Sep), from 10am to
12 noon. Our tasks will be to review and mark
out the projected area for concreting, and to
take down the existing facility. All help will
be greatly appreciated. If there is a big
turnout, we have many other tasks, beyond the
practice facility, to crack on with.

PHOENIX COMPETE IN
NATIONALS
Chalfont Park Phoenix
travelled to "sunny" Keele University last
weekend to take part in the C Grade National
Softball Championships and in their first shot
at the competition acquitted themselves very
well.
Phoenix won 3 of the 4 games
on Saturday to finish second in the group.
Unfortunately, losing the first game of the day
on Sunday took them into the plate competition.
After winning the plate semi they proceeded to
play Jammy Dodgers for the second time in the
plate final.
This game was a full 7 inning
game rather than the timed hour games we had
been playing previously and it turned out to be
the longest game in softball history! At least
it felt that way, or maybe it was the after
effects of playing the equivalent of half a
season in one weekend! We lost the final 34-20
but were only 1 run behind going into the final
inning, and finished 6th overall.
It was a great all round
showing by Phoenix who performed brilliantly
both with the bat and in the field all weekend,
we were close in every game we played and now
know that we are capable of beating any C grade
team in the country, which for a team in only
its second season is quite incredible.
Well done to all for coping
with the adverse conditions so well and many
thanks to those (Liz, HJ, and Simon) who
travelled with us to support, coach and score.
Full match reports and photos
will be on the website soon.

PARTY IN CHALFONT PARK
Thank you to everyone who
helped with the planning of the event and the
hours everyone put in on the day. A fantastic
effort!
The event was free to the
public but cost in the region of £6000. We sold
programmes, raffle tickets, hosted stalls and
ran the beer tent. From this we covered all our
costs with the Williams Fund and ourselves
making over £1000 each on the day. We will also
be giving a small donation to the Chamber of
Commerce village fund.
We held a de-brief meeting
last Thursday with lots of comments and
feedback. The major comment was to start the
planning as early as possible. So with that, I
am looking at whether an event will be feasible
next year and whether we have enough support
from members in the club. This year the event
involved 37 members, member's husbands and even
non-members husbands! . If you are interested in
helping to plan an event next year please
contact me to discuss.
Many thanks

NEW CATERERS AT CHALFONT PARK
On Saturday, we welcomed our
new caterers to Chalfont Park. Mark and Lesley,
a husband & wife team who own the company MG
Catering. From Tuesday 13th September they will
also be staffing the bar.
Since Sandra Taylor resigned
her contract here (after taking on the Rose &
Crown in Hawridge, Chesham), the CPSA Board have
invited companies to tender for the catering and
bar contracts. Over the summer, catering
companies have been shown around the facilities
and submitted their tenders, finally MG Catering
were selected to supply our catering and bar
needs.
As in the past, CPSA will be
taking all the profit from the bar and paying
the bar staff on an hourly basis. Lesley and her
team will be purchasing stock for the bar and
maintaining the facilities on our behalf.
If you have any comments
regarding the catering or bar please let me
know.
Many thanks
