MIXED TOURNAMENT

Once again we are holding the Mixed 7's Tournament at our club on the 18th of September, hoping to be as popular as ever.

As before the event will feature a massive party on the Saturday night with hopefully a live band and DJ!!! Entry will be £5 and there will be food included in that price, anyone is welcome down so bring along friends and colleagues. Camping will once again be available outside of the clubhouse on the Saturday night with a good hearty breakfast being served up Sunday morning. Even if you don't want to play please come down and support the club on the Sunday.

If you would like to play on the Sunday (we will be entering two teams) then please email Catherine to let her know you are available. The more the merrier!

Hope to see you all there bright and early Sunday morning.

The final Thames Valley League weekend of the season brought Wokingham II's to Chalfont Park, with the Wokingham lads under real pressure to win to avoid relegation. Chalfont are at the end of a good season, but still needing to do well to ensure a high placed finish. Another interesting twist to the day involved a further appearance of our old friend, the twelve year old umpire. OK he's not really 12 but he looks it, or maybe that's the number of LBW's he gives per game (minimum). Not sure where this season has disappeared to be honest, with 3 matches rained off, or maybe it's because I've not been able to buy a run for most of the season.

Chalfont won the toss end opted to put the opposition into bat. It was another classic Chalfont 'why don't we only start with 10 players and hit the deck running' moment with Rhys Mander attending a fixture against Wokingham... only opting for the wrong fixture and turning up at their ground. Nice one. Oh, and a 12 ball first over to boot.

Saqib Ahmed continued his season long good form with another solid new ball spell (10 overs 1 for 30) without much luck at all. It was then left to the old double act of Zed Khan (16 overs - 4 for 49) and Shahid Din (21 overs 5 for 65) to take control of the remainder of the innings. Wokingham's batsmen never managing to exert any control over the bowlers with wickets falling at regular intervals, finishing with a below par 155 from 50 overs. A fine effort from Zed and Shahid, well supported by the fielders.

Tea - I may have left some for the rest of the team I'm not sure.

Chalfont went out to bat in positive mood, looking to score whenever possible. Andy Parsons (92 not out) finally finding the middle of his bat after a nightmare run of scores, and Zed Khan (37 not out) hurried Chalfont to victory in 33 overs (157 for 2). A great end to a really good season for the 1st XI finishing in 3rd place, less than 1 win away from top position. A special mention to Shahid, Rhys, Tahir Rashid and Saqib for some excellent performances throughout the season.

Chalfont 20 points Wokingham II's 7 points.
