A&C produced a good all round team display to win their Trysports League Division 2 match at Henley on Saturday. With slick passing by the midfield, A&C pushed forward from the start and Lorna Dunning's strong running on the right posed a constant threat down the right wing in the first half and won several penalty corners. From one of these corners after 10 minutes, A&C took the lead with a powerful strike from Lara Mansfield who scored her first goal for the club.

Henley put together some dangerous looking attacks of their own but most of their right wing attacks were intercepted and stopped by Jenny Reape having an excellent game at left-back. However, it was very much against the run of play when Henley equalised on the stroke of half-time from a broken down penalty corner.

Immediately into the second-half, the best move of the game saw Ruth Fermor thread a ball through to Sara Daughtrey who rounded the keeper only to see her reverse stick shot cleared off the line. After this, Henley enjoyed their best spell and this included winning a penalty stroke.

Vicki Williams made a good save with a dive to her left and this proved to be the turning point of the match. A&C lifted their game and Clare Winter put them ahead after 49 minutes when squeezing the ball home when under pressure from the keeper and two defenders.

Emma Hewitt, with a reverse stick sweep, and Winter both came close to scoring before Jo Peters made the game safe with 6 minutes left with another hard hit shot from a penalty corner.

Giles Payne looked after the team on Monday evening in the absence of John Spicer and seemed to have a magical managerial touch as the team racked up an excellent win against Wycombe High School (3-2) and then comfortably beat Slough 5-0. So the A league record is now P6 W3 D1 L2. And a strongly improving trend.

The league B team continue their campaign with a game next Monday.

eam: Fyffe; Watson; Bullock, Parker, Ferguson; Ruxton, Teasdale, Brothwell, Shaw; Coates, Patterson; Sub. Cartledge.

A&C produced another impressive display to record their sixth win out of six in their Trysports League Division 1 match against Oxford Hawks at Newland Park on Saturday. Laura Patterson helped create the first opening for A&C as she drove down the right wing but her cross eluded the supporting forwards. Annie Brothwell then made a clearance off the line following a Hawks penalty corner.

A&C took the lead after 11 minutes when Patterson's pace down the right once again opened up the Hawks defence and her cross was this time met by Caroline Coates who produced a clinical finish. Brothwell and Katy Shaw then had shots saved by the keeper and Erin Ruxton shot just wide after a fast break.

Hawks still threatened going forwards and Alex Teasdale showed great composure at one point when driving the ball out of defence from in front of her own goal. Coates was then denied at the other end by the keeper just before half-time.

After the break, A&C came out again playing at a high tempo and two goals by Patterson in the first ten minutes gave A&C suitable breathing space. The first after 40 minutes followed Brothwell's through ball which was flicked past the keeper and the second a sweep from Teasdale's cross-shot at a penalty corner.

After this, A&C continued to produce some excellent flowing hockey with the midfield partnership of Brothwell and Teasdale proving very prominent in most of the attacking moves. Ruxton made it 4-0 after 56 minutes with a crisp penalty corner strike but the goal of the game was left to the last few minutes. Ruxton and Teasdale combined superbly to work the ball together along the baseline before setting up Coates to score her second.
