Thank you to everyone who
supported the two work parties in April. Shabs
and Rahul have been working very hard on the
ground, although a problem with the square lawn
mower has been a bit of a worry. The season
starts on Saturday, 17th April, with an open day
and the club supper in the evening. I look
forward to seeing as many of you as possible on
the day. If you are unable to attend any of the
events on the 17th, please call your team
captain to give him your availability.

SOFTBALL FRIENDLY
The Sports Club's new
softball team, Chalfont Park Phoenix played its
inaugural game against the Thames Valley Tigers
on Sunday. The final score was 17-34 which was
an excellent result considering it was most
peoples first game ever and they were such an
experienced team. To put it into context, most
of their players were either division 1 or
division 2 players whereas the Phoenix are going
to be playing division 3 softball this summer.
Game highlights included:
- Rahul Punj and James Sorbys excellent
pitching.
- Sarah Woods tag at second base.
- Speed at which the outfield fielded and
return the ball.
- First run for the club scored by Helen
Kitto (Rahul collected the RBI).
- Rahul making a double play after taking
a hard low hit catch.
- Neil Turner, Martin Cartledge and
Charlie Wooler all scoring home runs.
- Support from the crowd of around 15
people. Thanks to all of you.
However play of the day:
Annie making a great throw from third base to
Helen Kitto at home plate where Helen took the
ball, stood her ground at the plate and made the
tag (and out) as the huge Tiger's player
ploughed straight through her.

MENS CUP SUPPORTERS
The Mens First XI Cup match
is on Sunday 18th April - we are in the
semi-finals of the National Vase Competition and
have every chance of going to the final, but
your support is vital and could make all the
difference - we hope to get enough people there
to hire a bus/coach for the trip, but not enough
people have signed up yet. The cost will be
split between everyone and should work out
around £10 per head if we can get over 40 people
going (including the team) - currently I have a
list of around 20 - please, please support us,
and let me know a.s.a.p. on warren_scott@ntlworld.com
if you will be coming on the coach.
