============  REPORT - MENS 1ST XI  ===============
===================================================

On Sunday, A&C faced fellow league side Abingdon in
the EHL Vase competition. Abingdon struck in the
first 15 minutes with a well- worked short corner
and then 5 minutes later with a flick from a poor
tackle at the top of the D. Going into the second
half, A&C stepped up the pace and the breakthrough
came 15 minutes later when Rutherford made a superb
individual goal by running 50 yards past 6 Abingdon
players to score from the top of the D. A&C drew
level just before full time when, with excellent
advantage played by the Umpire, Ian Ringham rode
several challenges to slot the ball past the keeper.
Extra time and golden goal came into operation and
A&C thought they'd won when Watts stole the ball
and surged past three players to score, only for
it to be disallowed. Lovelace made a superb stick
save early in the second half to keep the team in
it before Cartledge wrapped the game up with a
sweetly struck short corner.

Team: Lovelace, Chiles, Rutherford, Blamey,
Wilcox, Scott, Brice, Ringham, Heath, Watts,
Cartledge, Paine

===========  REPORT - LADIES 1ST XI  ==============
===================================================

The Ladies 2s enjoyed an 8-0 goal fest against
Staines. From the start Amersham & Chalfont's
slick pass and move game caused Staines problems
and they found themselves chasing their tails.
It only took 2 minutes for A&C to earn their
reward, captain Clare Winter driving along the
backline before slipping the ball back for
Kirstie Caneparo to slam home for her first
goal for the club.

It was another 26 minutes before A&C's domination
of the game was rewarded - Natalie Durkin scoring
from close range from a shot by Becky King. Only
seconds later it was 3-0, Hannah Towers winning
the ball from the restart deep in Staines half
and slipping it to Becky King to score. Before
the half was over it was 4-0. Sweeper Heidi James
ran the length of the pitch to support Durkin and
then delivering an excellent cross for
Sarah Cartledge to slot home.

The second half saw no let up and A&C continued to
press for more goals and to drive holes in the
Staines defence. Cartledge did good work to set up
Towers to score and midway through the half Towers
was on target a second time to move the score onto
6-0. Erin Ruxton who had shown silky skills on the
ball and had run rings round the Staines defence
on numerous occasions, still had time to get her
just rewards by getting on the score sheet twice.
The first coming from a well worked short corner
routine (James - your coaching is paying off!!)
and the second in open play, this time King
providing the set up pass.

The only downside to what was a great overall team
performance was it was only a friendly. But look
out Reading - the team are planning to reproduce
this performance in league this Saturday!

Team: Williams, Ferguson, Carlin, Peters, Durkin,
King, James, Winter, Cartledge, Caneparo, Towers,
Harman, Ruxton
