LADIES 3RD XI PROMOTED
Amersham and Chalfont's second promotion of the
season was sealed on Saturday as the Ladies 3rd
XI beat Wokingham 5-0 and nearest rivals
Wallingford lost 1-0 to Bicester. This meant
that A&C were promoted as champions.
EHA VASE - QUARTER FINAL
The Mens 1st XI are playing Zak Hond in the
quarter finals of the EHA Vase this Sunday at
Newlands at 2pm. Zak Hond used to be a touring
team but are now attached to National League
club Hampstead and Westminster. This is going to
be the hardest game so far in the competition
with Zak Hond winning all but one of their games
so far this season. The Mens 1sts would like to
see a huge crowd to cheer them on towards the
semis. Game starts at 2pm.
SOFTBALL PRACTICE
Softball this week returns to its usual 11am
slot on Sunday morning at the club. Everyone is
invited, so please come down and give it a go.
EASTER TOUR SHIRTS
The final deadline for tour shirt money (£15) is
this Sunday 21st March. (Post dated cheques are
acceptable) I also need a shirt size from
everyone (S,M,L) and name suggestions. If I
don't receive the money from you this weekend
then you will not have a shirt ordered for you!

Amersham & Chalfont knew that
this game was crucial in determining the outcome
of their season. Needing a win or a draw to
remain in the top half of the table they knew
how important this game was.
The guys were fired up and
knew that a good start was needed, unfortunately
found themselves 2-0 down within the first 15
minutes. However, in what has become a trademark
of this side the heads were held high and after
a fired up team talk at half time came back
firing on all cylinders. An inspirational 20
minutes of good, strong hockey saw A&C all over
Wokingham with fine breaks from Huw Rhys Davies,
James Lander and Pete Westaway to put Mark
Worrell in for the first. After some strong
defending by Craig Ottaway and Colin Byrne who
kept A&C in the game, and some strong running
from Watsy making a guest appearance, Oscar
Postma watched the Wokingham keeper go to ground
and calmly flicked it up and over into the top
left corner and A&C were back in the game. The
third came from a variation short corner which
was eventually buried by Russell Rhys Davies to
see A&C take the lead 3-2. Unfortunately, due to
some hurried play by A&C central defence and
some strong running by Wokingham they equalised
10 minutes from the end to finish a 3-3 draw. A
good game and good result.
Team: Litchfield, Byrne,
Ottaway, H. Rhys Davies, Laubser, J. Lander,
Westaway, Watts, Emery, Worrell, Postma, R. Rhys
Davies.

A&C 4's edged closer to MBBO
Division 4 title with deserved victory against
4th placed Bicester. The opponents were very
much up for this game but thankfully A&C quickly
fell into their stride by supporting each player
on the ball and working really hard at breaking
up the opposition play. Up front Stephenson
seems to be getting quicker every week and
Stewart is...positionally smart. After 15
minutes point blank chances at either end were
kept out by some excellent keeping.
Haythornthwaite managed to get to the bye line
and pull the ball back for Stewart to smash the
ball against the back board. Blamey showed some
nifty stickwork and worked tirelessly in
midfield with Whayman who continued to
intercept, receive and distribute with great
effect. It was great to see the youngster Brand
play with such confidence flicking the ball over
and around one or two defenders at a time. The
defence communicated well through Eaude and,
apart from the first quarter of game, were
rarely troubled. The short corner count was
10-1.
