South Bucks vs Amersham & Chalfont was a top of the table clash and was sure to give exciting hockey. South Bucks had a large swell of support for their home team but they were quickly disappointed when A&C after continued early pressure scored the first goal after 15 minutes. It was a well worked move with Mark Rutherford slotting the finish. A&C let their guard down though and South Bucks almost immediately responded. The remainder of the first half was fairly even with short corners for both teams. At the start of the second half A&C came straight out at South Bucks and within five minutes, a free hit from Warren Scott found Mark Rutherford who slotted through to Andy Watts for a deft touch to nutmeg the South Bucks keeper. A&C kept up the pressure, but South Bucks again equalised within 10 minutes on a quick break. A&C kept up the pressure until the last five minutes when with the crowd behind them South Bucks camped in A&C's half only for the defence to hold firm including one last tackle by Mark Wardman which kept out a certain match winner.

Team: Lovelace, Chiles, Van Duvenbode, Wardman, Patterson, Martin, Turner, Scott, Crossman, Watts, Cartledge, Rutherford.

ACHC ladies 3's played a strong Reading team at home. We put the pressure on and realised that we had a fight on our hands/sticks from the off. We defended well and took the game to them. Great passing through the pitch from defence resulted in a great cross from Schelshorn to Brand on the far post who sweetly slipped it past the keeper. We were unlucky not to score more as we had several strong attacks. Score 1-0 Half time.

ACHC continued to pressure the opposition and had a lot of the play. Excellent passing and team work paid off and a short corner was awarded. Our routine worked perfectly and Brand on the post belted it past the keeper.

We defended well and the game went end to end. Carter crossed to Rider on the left wing who swept it neatly into goal, score 3-0.

The high pace of the game took its toll and we conceded a short corner which the opposition took well and shot it hard past our keeper. Final score 3-1

We were knackered but victorious - AGAIN!!!

Those new electronic signs on the M4 were switched on this Tuesday. The bad news is that they are rigged with the SPECS speed cameras. SPECS is a computer-camera based system. As you go past the sign a digital camera reads your number plate. When you go past the next sign your number plate is read again. The computer 'knows' how far apart the signs are so it can work out your average speed between the two, or three or four.

The system is fully automatic and will issue a ticket without any form of human intervention. It does this for every single vehicle that passes. You will not know you've been caught as the cameras don't flash. They work 24/7, 365 days a year, and theoretically, there's absolutely no limit on the number of tickets that the system can issue.

The whole section of the M4 between Theale (J12) and Membury Services (between 14 and 15) is wired, both ways. Radar detectors will be of no use as SPECS is entirely passive, there is no radar or laser beam to detect.
